I just found out that I have a timed physical agility test in 5 days. I was notified today.  I haven&#8217;t ran for fitness in a couple months and need tips on some hardcore cardio routine to boost my system so I&#8217;m not huffing and puffing the entire time. It is a 4 minute obstacle course. Lots of stairs, cones, and fence climbing.</p>

<p><i>Answer by Victor J</i><br/>Five days doesn&#8217;t give you much time to make adaptations to your body to have a noticable effect.  But, there may be some hope:</p>
<p>Find a relatively steep, short hill (approx 100yds) and do repeat run-ups with a slow walk down.  Try not to allow much recovery time at the bottom, 30 seconds at the most.  Your body will tell you when it&#8217;s time to take a break (and you better listen to it, too!).</p>
<p>Find some stairs (the more stories, the better) or do some lunges.  Basically, with stairs, cones, and fences, we&#8217;re looking at strengthening the quads and hamstrings.  </p>
<p>Two days before the testing, take it easy.  Don&#8217;t go &#8220;all out&#8221; on these days.  The day before, you could even skip any <a href="http://bestfitnessplan.org/turbulence" class="pretty-link-keyword" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">workout</a> altogether to recover from the previous four days&#8217; work.  </p>
<p>Listen to you body!!!  It will tell you if you&#8217;re doing too much or if you can go further.  Of course, if you don&#8217;t have an athletic background, proceed with caution.  Five days is not enough time to go from couch-potato to weekend warrior.</p>

<p>To improve how fast you can swim, work on making your ankles more flexible. Use short exercises like alternately pointing your toes and then flexing your feet for a minute or so to increase flexibility. This will make your feet better at moving you quickly through the water just as water creatures flippers propel them.</p>
<p>If you want to work on toning up and gaining muscle strength, remember two key things: rest your muscles and dont overdo it. All weight workouts should be kept fairly short because after an extended period of time your body begins to create a stress response. It is also important to take time off between muscle workouts in order to allow your muscles to rest and recharge.</p>
<p>A great fitness tip is to follow a set order when working out. First, use dumbbells. Then, use barbells. Finally, use machines. You use this order because dumbbells focus on the smaller, stabilizer muscles that fatigue faster than the larger muscles. Once your smaller muscles are exhausted, move on to the machines to hit the larger muscle groups.</p>
<p>Remember that your fitness needs change as you age, especially regarding flexibility. When you reach middle age, you need to devote even more time to stretching before and after your workout. This helps keep your muscles pliable and prevents cramping after workouts as well as helping reduce the risk of injury.</p>
<p>There will be days when you have zero motivation to workout. On days like this, commit to doing just ten minutes of exercise. If you get started, chances are you will continue exercising past the first ten minutes. Even if you dont continue exercising, ten minutes is better than no minutes.</p>
<p>Stop making excuses for not working out. Schedule a block of time to workout tomorrow, even if its only for 15 minutes. Tomorrow, schedule another block of time for the next day. Do this daily and eventually you wont need to make that appointment with yourself and your workout time will increase. Soon, exercise will just be part of a normal day.</p>
<p>Therefore, getting and staying fit does not have to be the unreachable pinnacle in your life. Its just a matter of building up stamina by doing something you enjoy, an activity that will get your heart rate up and that you can do at least a few times a week. A routine like that may not make you into an Olympic star, but it can give you a healthy body, keep your weight down, and make you feel good about yourself.</p>

<p>Answer:Pattern wire is made by using a rolling mill to produce thinner and textured metal sheet and/or wire. The metal/wire is inserted into the mill and as it is rolled through two wheels (one or both of which have a pattern on them) the pattern is embossed into the metal/wire. Most studio jewelers use a hand-cranked mill and refineries use an automated one. <p>Question:If Argentium tarnishes to pale blond, how does one remove the tarnish? Can a regular anti tarnish cloth be used?</p>
<p>Answer:The light and rarely occurring tarnish that appears on argentium silver can easily be removed with just a piece of lint free cloth such as a piece of clean tee-shirt. Any polishing cloth will work just fine as well.</p>
<p>Question:In one of the recent &#8220;Tips of the Day&#8221; you mentioned &#8220;a frame bundle to make a cabochon pendant&#8221; when answering a question about pattern wire. What is a frame bundle?</p>
<p>Answer:What I often refer to as a &#8216;frame bundle&#8217; is the group of wires organized and then wrapped together before forming into a setting that goes around or &#8216;frames&#8217; a cabochon or gemstone pendant made with wire.</p>
<p>Question:What is a 7 prong, or any prong for that matter, bell cap used for?</p>
<p>Answer:As a child, my mom taught my brother and me to tumble rocks, and then to make &#8216;rockhound&#8217; jewelry. These pieces were made by gluing bell caps to the tumble polished stones and then attaching these stone charms to base metal, chain bracelets or key chains and were proudly given as holiday gifts to family members. Bell caps are generally made of a base metal (sometimes plated) and are in the shape of a baseball cap or a cone head. They have several prongs (which can be shaped as scallops, petals or spikes) that can be bent as needed to fit over the top of an item (such as a tumbled stone) and are then glued to whatever, forming a charm. <p>Question:How does one keep stainless steel shot, used for tumbling a piece, free of black oxides that build up and can impart a dark residue to silver?</p>
<p>Answer:First let me say that if you use a tumbler to work-harden and clean your jewelry pieces, that you should never mix metals in the same tumbling batch. Each batch needs to be one pure metal such as all copper or all silver or all brass (this means no mixed metal pieces such as one made with silver and copper, etc.) Stainless steel shot needs to be cleaned between each and every run.Now let&#8217;s look at a few reasons why the shot turns black. When using a new rubber barrel (even if you cleaned it well before the first use) until it is &#8216;broken in&#8217;, often the rubber on the inside comes off during the first 3 or 4 runs, leaving an undesirable coating on both the shot and your jewelry (especially if it is one of the inexpensive barrels, in my personal opinion, Lortone is best). If you were running a batch that included mixed metals, copper and brass will tumble off a bit of residue that will adhere to all of the material in the batch, including the shot. If you used a dish detergent with a citrus additive like &#8216;lemon fresh&#8217; or something, the citrus will turn all of the metal black. If you use city water, check to see if it contains additives that could be reacting with your metals and if so, use purchased water in a jug.Now here are a couple of methods to clean the shot. 1. Make a thick mixture of backing soda and water and run it with the shot for 2 or 3 hours; remove the shot, rinse everything clear and if still blackened a bit, repeat. 2. Run the shot in clear water with a good dose of pure (no citrus) Dawn dishwashing detergent with grease cutter. Using fresh water each time, repeat either cleaning method chosen, as many times as necessary to get rid of the collected grime.</p>

OK, I&#8217;m 13 years old, kinda skinny, and going to th grade if that helps.</p>
<p>Since I&#8217;m kinda skinny, I wanna get stronger. I already know about eatting vegies and fruits and keep the sweets low. </p>
<p>But mainly, I want to know some good exercises. Any websites? I&#8217;m currently spending about 15-20min a day doing push-ups at night. </p>
<p>BTW, I&#8217;m usually kinda hyper and have quite some energy.<br />
I&#8217;m not looking for weigh-loss products. I want to gain weight a bit and get stronger.</p>

It is not unusual to see the roofs last for 50 years or even longer. New roofs often come with manufacturer&#8217;s care instructions for the material. If you don&#8217;t have the care instructions, you may be able to evaluate the material on your own to determine the composition.</p>
<p>It is important to use compatible materials when doing any repairs. Otherwise, corrosion can occur. If you have difficulty making this evaluation, a good roofing contractor can help. For most roofs, maintenance and repair is relatively simple. You will need a sturdy ladder. Ideally you should have someone on the ground to hold the ladder as you are climbing up and down.</p>
<p>You should only attempt this if you are comfortable with the height and you feel that the maintenance or repair work can be done safely. Otherwise, you should contact a roofing contractor. Once you are at a point where you can evaluate the area, you should start by looking for loose nails, rusty patches, holes or other signs of damage. If you are aware of an existing leak, you will need to take steps to repair the leak.</p>
<p>In general, how to maintain a metal roof involves removing debris, such as leaves and branches. Any loose nails should be pulled and replaced. Hammering the nail back down may not be a good idea. You need to start a running program, learn how to do push ups and a lot of them as well as sit ups. Work on them everyday. Mornings are the best. You can join a gym to keep you motivated if you need it. By the way, learn how to jump rope. You will see results quicker on your cardio and damn good for the arm and shoulder muscles.</p>

<p>A healthy man is a wealth man. There is no joy and achievement in acquiring wealth when your health is failing you. An obese or overweight person cannot participate in active fun and play. He tends to have terrible symptoms of heartburn, chest pains, hurting kneels and swollen legs. He experiences hatred and rejection when people desert him due to his slowness and sluggishness.</p>
<p>Man needs to live a low risk of ill health and early death. You need to live a life that will help you to enjoy more aspects of your life. You must consciously do things that help to keep you healthy. Carefully observe the following, put them into practice and you will surely record success in your health and fitness.</p>
<p>Eating habit: Are you the type that eats as many times as you desire? You need to caution yourself on the type of food you eat. An obese or overweight person should eat much of fruits, vegetables, protein, and fish, drink a lot of water and avoid eating in between meals. He should also run away from junk and juice as well as fast food and carbohydrate but rather eat much of protein.</p>
<p>Healthy diet: Healthy feeding habits will improve your mental and physical energy. All the essential nutrients like vitamins, proteins, minerals and little carbohydrates because of energy are needed to be present in your meals. Foods that are fatty and sugary should be completely avoided. Excessive food should also be avoided. Eat a little size regularly and you will be healthy and fit.</p>
<p>Exercise: This involves all bodily activities and help to maintain fitness and health. Exercise will boost your immunity and prevent diseases like obesity, heart attack, heart failure and other cardiovascular diseases. It improves your mental health, prevents and promotes self-esteem. Avoid vigorous exercise as this may cause health hazard. Simple jogging, walking and dancing are okay for you. You can decide to take stair case instead of elevator. You may decide to leave your car at park and trek to church or market.</p>
<p>Sleep and Rest: The struggle for the things needed for man&#8217;s survival is hindering many to sleep. If we must live a healthy life, we must find time to rest and sleep. We should have a plan and stick to it. The body rejuvenates and recovers when you sleep. To stay healthy, you must not overwork yourself to the point of exhaustion and you must find time to rest and sleep well. Though too much sleep may increase one&#8217;s size but taking vacation will help you to relax your mind and body especially if you are a busy type.</p>
<p>Nurturing the mind: We need to avoid worry over any issue such as finance, wealth, children and marriage so that we can nurture our mind. Anxiety neither brings any useful benefit to our body nor solve problem. We should not abhor fear and bitterness in our mind. Develop and practice what you love doing. Be it dancing, reading, singing, visiting, playing or anything that gives you joy. Reflecting on the creatures can help you to nurture your mind.</p>

Do some foot work drills. Use the latters (if you know what I mean) you get your footwork better. Practice shooting and juggle the ball some. Just be able to run, have good ball skills and some build up your upper body some</p>

Well i haven&#8217;t played since last season. And i couldn&#8217;t play since september til now. I have two weeks, the winter break, to get back into shape. The reason was because i had too many things because of AP classes and such, but recently my parents gave me a car. I live about 6 miles away from school. so now it&#8217;s much more easier for me to quickly go home and stuff. Well i was planning to start going to 24 fitness and workout. Any tips?</p>

<p><i>Answer by mattpiloto</i><br/>For you, I would say a combination of weight training and high intensity interval training (HIIT). In basketball you require a lot of power and speed, and these 2 things will help you to develop that. I put a link at the bottom that explains the benefits of weight training in more detail. The HIIT is kind of self explanatory. You can find a bunch of videos on youtube of what to do. You should be able to find all of the equipment you need to do both at any gym you go to. Just make sure that you go hard on whatever you are doing. 2 weeks isn&#8217;t very long, but you can get a good head start if you push yourself.</p>
