If there was ever a fountain of youth for health and vitality, exercise would be it. There are so many health benefits to exercise, it would be impossible to list them all. However, research has shown that exercise performed on a regular basis decreases the risk of stroke, heart disease, diabetes, high blood pressure, osteoporosis, breast cancer and high cholesterol.

Furthermore, exercise helps to keep our bones strong well into our senior years and helps to strengthen our hearts and lungs. Additionally, regular exercise eases stress and depression and facilitates sleep and relaxation.

For these reasons, no matter how old you are you should include some form of exercise in your daily life. Physical activity doesn’t have to come in the form of a subscription to a fitness club or buying expensive exercise equipment. Instead, you should try to incorporate some sort of physical activities that are a natural part of your daily routine.

The following are some suggestions of ways that you can naturally incorporate physical activates into your daily life:

1) Do some sort of exercise while you watch television. Yoga, strength training or aerobics are all good. Also using small hand weights or walking on a treadmill is something you can do while watching television.

2) Implement a walk with your family after dinner.

3) Take the stairs instead of the elevator or escalator.

4) Take up gardening or another type of outdoor hobby.

5) Play with children! If you don’t have any of your own, find a niece or a nephew – you can set aside a regular day for taking them out for some fun activities.

6) Park your car away from where you need to go and then walk to your destination.

7) Get off the bus or a taxi early and walk the rest of the way to your destination.

6) Keep a pair of athletic shoes in your office and your car. This way you’ll always be ready for some activity.

7) If you need to take care of errands such as going to the bank or post office, walk instead of driving or taking the bus or taxi.

8) Find a sport that you like and play it with friends, family or neighbors.

9) Play with your pets. Playing with your pets such as dogs or cats is great fun for them and a fun way for you to get some physical activity.

10) Wash your own car. Instead of taking your car to the car wash or paying someone to do it for you, get up early one day out of the weekend and wash it yourself. It will definitely give you a workout!

11) Mow your own lawn. And if you don’t have a yard, volunteer to do it for someone in your neighborhood, such as mowing the lawn of an elderly or disabled person.

12) Take up a team sport such as basketball, soccer or football. Research shows that team sports have additional health benefits that playing a sport by yourself does not have.

13) If you work on the computer a lot, instead of sitting on a chair, sit on a stability ball. Over time, it can help to strengthen your body core and improve your balance and posture – all of which tend to decline as we age.

14) Learn a new activity such as swimming or riding a bicycle.

While it is important to include natural forms of physical activities in your daily routine such as the ones mentioned here, be sure to also schedule in planned exercise workouts as well. Planned workouts may include visits to your local gym or community center twice or three times per week, or it may be exercises that you can do at home or outside such as strength training, jogging or aerobic exercise.

1. Plan early and book when a good deal fits your budget or smells right. There are more and more travel companies popping up everyday. Why? Because as the baby boomer generation gets older and once they boot their children out of the house, they are traveling more and more. 2. Know about your destination and the best times to travel. Remember when Chevy Chase takes the whole family cross country only to find out their favorite fun park is closed? 5. Don’t forget your important documents. There is nothing more frustrating than forgetting something when you are hundreds or thousands of miles from home.

There is nothing like landing a great deal on a hotel only to find out it is miles from anything or in a location that is not suitable for a great vacation. For example, a hotel that is so far away from the beach you need to catch a plane just to get there. Also, you want to make sure that everyone traveling with you will have fun! We all need to be fit and healthy, each with our own reasons for doing so. From looking good for our partner, to being able to play and have quality time with our kids; or maybe the doctor ordered us to get in shape. Obesity is the leading overarching cause of death in the westernised world and all too often we fail to think about what we are doing to both ourselves and our families.

To combat this obesity epidemic we find all sorts of quick fix pills, powders, and gadgets on the shopping networks that do little to actually help people take the fat off and keep it off. Of course the same could be said of the diet industry as well with so many different diets going around you have to choose from.

Now that we are well out of the holiday season, it is during this time that few of us will still be working on their new years resolutions and likely gone back to the old habits of eating or drinking more than we should and perform less physical activity than we would like.

What is truly needed at this time of year to get us back on track is some sensible proven health tips that people can implement today no matter what their present physical condition is like.

So here are four easy health and fitness tips for you to get started on…

1 Drink more water.

All too often we are borderline dehydrated and our bodies are working on the water starvation reflex where we are not flushing the toxins and junk out of our system. So be sure to drink at least two litres of water per day (if you are sedentary, more if you are active) and ideally not in one sitting. Spread out your water intake across the day. If you wait until you are thirsty then you are already borderline dehydrated.

2 Eat more often.

I bet you thought I was going to say eat less. While it is true that to lose weight you need to eat less calories than you expend, however you need to eat more often to get your metabolic furnace stoked up and burning right. Get it out of starvation mode and start the day off with some breakfast. Even an instant breakfast drink and a piece of fruit as we head out the door in the morning is a good start.

3 Get physically active.

Depending on your physical condition you need to be moving more. Use the stairs rather than the elevator, park farther out from the office or the store, go for a walk around the block, go dancing, play with your kids. Make it fun. Running is not the only way to burn more calories.

If you are really keen and like to monitor yourself, get a pedometer and see how many steps you take each day. Set yourself a goal for 10 000 steps per day and you will be on the right track!

4 Finally, determine your Why.

Decide why you want to get fit and healthy. Make sure your reason is big enough to motivate you through the times where you wont want to get out of bed or off the couch, as these slumps invariably happen.

Personally my reason is for my young family, where my son is nearly 2 years old now and my daughter only 6 months.

I want to stay fit and healthy so that I can get out and play with them on their schedule, particularly on the weekends where we have more free time together.

Poor fitness can negatively affect you, both physically and emotionally. You need to do a lot of your research so that you don’t seriously harm yourself working out. There are some tips listed below to help you start with a fitness regimen that can work for you and your goals.

Cycling

To bicycle more efficiently, train by cycling using one leg. This technique helps you learn how to best distribute the work across your leg muscles by making you to think about pulling your leg back up at the stroke’s bottom. Have both feet locked into the pedals, but simply let one remain static. The best strategy is thirty minutes each leg, then five minutes of both legs.

Use a steady cycling pace. The faster you pedal, the quicker you will tire yourself out. Keep your pace simple and steady to be able to build your riding endurance and prevent fatigue. Pedaling at a brisk but steady pace will also let you know if you are getting close to an injury, because you are more likely to feel the pull.

When cycling, you should aim to keep your speed around 80 to 110 rpm. This will allow you to ride farther with less knee strain and fatigue. To calculate your speed, you should count the number of times your right leg goes to the top of the pedal stroke in ten seconds. Once you calculate this number, multiply by six. This gives you your pedal rpms.

If you’re cycling, whether one a stationary bike or a real one, try to keep your speed between about 80 RPM and 110 RPM. You’ll be able to go much longer before you get tired and you won’t put as much strain on your knees. You can figure out your RPMs by counting the number of times your right leg comes to the top of the pedal in ten seconds and then multiply that by 6.

For those who have just begun exercising recently, it is important not to over do it. Because your muscles and other parts of your body are not used to the exercise, you can suffer a severe muscle injury. You can begin by power-walking, running, cycling, swimming, or lifting light weights.

A good fitness tip to help increase endurance and muscle when you are cycling is to try and keep your pace somewhere between 80 and 110 rpms. This will allow you to ride further without getting tired and it is much easier on your joints. You also have the benefit of riding for longer periods of time.

Be careful not to overdo your fitness routines! Only do high impact fitness workouts on alternating days. In between, do weight work, yoga, swimming or cycling to give your bones and joints a break. Don’t work out every day. Give your body one day of rest during the week.

Strengthen your legs with isotonic exercise. Many sports such as basketball, football, cycling and running require strong legs. This form of exercise requires you to tense and contract a muscle for a certain amount of time. Weight lifting is a particularly good example of this exercise, as it develops muscle tone and increases joint flexibility.

A really good way to get fit is by enrolling in a cycling class. Most gyms typically offer cycling classes and they are a great way to get in shape and meet people. Instructors will push you and they usually play great music which makes the cycling more enjoyable.

Poor fitness can be very troublesome, but with some work and some patience, you can get better at it. It just takes research and asking your doctor what to do and how to approach it safely so you can reach your fitness goals. Do yourself a favor and try using the above tips to help improve your fitness goals.

Ever fancied bodies like Matthew McConaughey or LL Cool J’s? Have you always wanted to be buff? Well, you know what to do, follow workout tips coupled with the right food and the right attitude. If you do this with the most precision, you’d be ready to fire your guns sooner than expected. So, let’s get started.
 
Before you dive in and work out, do some warm up and stretching first. Take on some low-intensity work outs first. A good 10 minutes would be enough. If you’re a yoga or Tai-Chi enthusiast, they fit in the category, so go ahead and do that. Spend 5-10 minutes of stretching with emphasis on the parts you wish to focus on. Why do you have to do this? Your body temperature should be elevated before an intense workout to avoid unwanted injury. In human words, so you won’t experience pain from almost every part of your body the next day.

And remember to cool down after training.

Change your workout routines once in a while. Your body will not just change when you do something it hasn’t done before, it will also adapt to that change. As the body learns to adapt and cope with whatever force you apply on it, every hit won’t be the same. Turns out, the point of saturation also applies to our bodies.
 
If it’s weight-training that you’re after but wish to do some cardio exercises, remember to do the latter first. The cardiovascular exercises engage large muscles in the body, and when you do that first, odds are you will be exhausted in the weight-training.
 
Challenge yourself and do difficult exercises. Do not be satisfied with exercises that only benefit certain parts in your body. Man up and do multi-joint movements. They’re a bit tricky and would take time to execute it properly.

However, your efforts won’t go to waste as it promotes the utmost growth in multifaceted muscles like legs and chest area. Examples of multi-joint exercises are squats, deadlifts and leg presses. In terms of repetition, a good 8-20 would be great.

Don’t work out too much! I’m serious. If you think that pushing yourself more than more, it means better result, you’re wrong. It is actually better if you ease in than rush in. You wouldn’t want to be bed-ridden the next day. Also, recovery is as important as all the aspects of your workout. Your muscle fibers will only begin rebuilding after the training. When you’re a rookie, you can only lift weights 3-4 times a week, do not work on the same muscle region consecutively, and if it’s still is painful.

Eat breakfast and eat after training. Yes, breakfast is still important even in working out. That’s the only fuel that will help you go through the day and the workout you have planned. Your breakfast should be full of carbohydrates coupled with protein.

Approximately 33 billion dollars are spent on health and fitness products annually. WOW! 33 billion dollars! Not million…but BILLION! That’s astonishing. But, if this is true then why are so many people in the U.S. overweight? According to a study from the Center for Disease Control, 35% of the U.S. population is overweight and 27% are clinically obese. That’s well over half of our population. That’s amazing.

Being overweight has many detrimental effects, not only physically, but psychologically as well, leading to lower levels of confidence in ourselves and appearance. Carrying excess body fat can result in very serious health concerns including, coronary arterial disease, diabetes, hypertension, high cholesterol, and increased levels of stress. And these are just a few negative health issues, that can often times lead to additional problems.

With all of the information available to us these days, why are so many people still struggling with so many health problems that in many instances can be prevented? Well, it’s a combination of many things, including lack of proper education.

There is so much information available to us it’s hard to decipher what is the truth and what’s not. This can be very confusing, typically guiding the public in the wrong direction. Also, too many people are looking for the easy or fast solution with the least amount of effort. Unfortunately, there is not short cut, or magic exercise machine or trendy diet that is going to help you reach the desired health benefits that you want.

There are things that we can do to help us live healthier lives. For starters, we must change our behaviors. Most health problems are due to poor eating habits and being too sedentary.

We have to stop depending on high saturated fats and high sugary meals (comfort foods) when we feel down or want something that will make us feel better. When I have days when I’m stressed, or generally feeling down about things, I exercise. It’s a fact that when one exercises, the brain releases chemicals that not only increase our energy levels but make us feel great. The more habit forming we can make this than the better we will feel on a regular basis.

Developing good nutritional habits is a key component in striving for better health. Rather than jumping on the latest fashionable diet craze. Try to find eating healthier in ways that work on a more individualized level. One diet cannot possibly work for everyone on the planet, despite what the bestselling books want you to believe. We have to consider our genetic makeup along with our overall health issues and goals. Eliminating certain food groups is not the answer. There are certain macronutrients our bodies need to survive; fats, protein, and carbohydrates. Start out by eating many small meals through ought the day, preferably 5-6. I’m not saying to eat five meals that are going to make you so full that you can’t even move. But eat smaller meals, snacking between each one. For example, yogurt and a piece of fruit can be a wonderfully healthy snack. Fruits and vegetables not only make great snacks but they have extremely high nutritional value. They are loaded with disease fighting antioxidants. Plus, it’s almost impossible to eat too many fruits or vegetables. You would have to consume literally hundreds of pieces.

In addition, start the day by drinking a glass of water, this will aid in getting a jump on the hydration process. Follow that up with roughly 6-8 glasses of water throughout the day. If you are exercising regularly, drink more. But if you are just starting to form this habit, slowly begin by drinking 4 glasses daily gradually increasing your water intake as you feel comfortable. Your muscles are made up of 75% water. The more hydrated they are, than the easier it is for them to do their job. This holds true for your heart, as well. The reason for eating often is to increase your metabolism. Combining exercise with healthy eating habits will speed up your metabolism. This will turn your body into a more efficient fat and calorie burning machine.

Building lean muscle also increases our metabolism, thus burns fat at a higher rate. Muscle burns 9 calories per hour while your body is at rest, compared to fat, which burns 4 calories per hour while at rest. That’s more than twice as much! Can you believe it? By simply getting set up on an effective strength training program we can burn more fat!

Also, cardiovascular exercise is an important part to the health and fitness equation. Not only is cardiovascular exercise great for your heart, but it too burns calories. A general rule of thumb is that for every mile you walk or jog, you will burn roughly 100 calories. Not to mention the incredible benefits your body will discover from more efficient oxygen intake ultimately leading to a lower resting heart rate.

An important concept to keep in mind is to become more active. This might include walking more often, such as using the stairs rather than the elevator, or parking your car farther away while at the mall. Even performing some simple calisthenics, like jumping jacks, skipping rope, push-ups, sit-ups or anything that will increase your heart rate will help you get a jump on your fitness program. While watching your favorite half hour sitcom, try exercising during every commercial break. By simply getting your body moving, you will feel amazingly better. All it takes is some commitment, a little creativity and the desire to make you feel better.

For maximum results, a complete health and fitness program includes all three components; eating healthy, strength training, and cardiovascular exercise. But as I mentioned earlier, everyone has different genetics, health concerns, and goals. Therefore it is critical to first consult your doctor before starting any program and then contact qualified professionals, such as a nutritionist and personal trainer.

Summertime is one of the best times to give your workout routine a jolt because you can do many of your activities outside while enjoying the beautiful weather. But with the summer months also comes very hot weather. If you aren’t careful, you could be doing your body more harm than good. These summer health tips will help you stay safe while getting the exercise you need when the weather starts to heat up.

Exercise Early in the Morning

During the summer, it’s best to do your exercise routine early in the morning. That’s because the temperature is much cooler before the sun is all the way up. Get in the habit now of waking up 30 or 45 minutes earlier than normal so you can get your workout in. If you can’t do that, try doing your exercise regimen in the evening when you get home from work. Once the sun starts to go down, the temperatures will cool and you’ll be able to do your routine with less of a chance of overheating your body.

Drink Plenty of Water

Water is the lifeblood of any body and it keeps the body functioning properly. Unfortunately, many people think that any type of liquid counts toward their water intake, but this simply isn’t true. One of the most important summer health tips is that you should be drinking about 16 ounces of plain (preferably purified) water before, after and during your workout. You should also be drinking water throughout the day to keep your body hydrated. For those rigorous workouts, sports drinks like Gatorade should also be included because they help replace vitamins, minerals and electrolytes that you lose when your body perspires heavily.

Eat Plenty of Fresh Fruits and Vegetables

During the summer, you can readily find plenty of fresh fruits and vegetables at your local grocery store for great prices. If you don’t make a habit of eating these foods during the colder months, this is the perfect chance to get used to these fresh foods when they are at their peak. You can buy fresh strawberries and add them to your morning cereal or just eat the fresh food by themselves as snacks. They are packed with nutrients that will help keep your energy up and help your body function properly in the warmer weather.

These basic summer health tips are ideal for helping you stay fit and eat nutritiously during the warmer months. By the end of the summer, you’ll feel great and be trimmed down and you’ll want to keep up those healthy habits during until the next summer season rolls around.

Be a man, and make a decision.

There are hundreds of tips on getting fit out there, but there are a couple of golden rules that can apply to any exercise plan you have taken up.

The most basic of tips on getting fit I can offer is DON’T OVERTRAIN! There are two reasons for this.

A) It doesn’t help you build muscle, one of the things central to any exercise regime. If you attempt to train muscles you have already worked on, it will not help the muscle you have broken down already to rebuild. The muscles you have trained need time to recover before you start hammering on them again! Be patient.

B) Lengthy workouts, more than an hour long, will see the body produce a hormone called cortisol. One of the effects of cortisol is that it damaged and destroys muscle cells.

The second of my tips on getting fit is another simple one. Make sure you are sleeping well.

This is the time when you actually benefit from your workouts, when the muscles repair themselves and recover. Sleep is your best recovery time, so try and get some – like you need any incentive!

The third is also a simple one. it’s the importance of hydration. Dehydration will cause your workouts to be less effective and generally leave you feeling drained anyway. Water is not, or need to be expensive, so hydration shouldn’t be either.

These tips on getting fit might sound very simple but if you don’t follow them you will struggle to get the most from a personal trainer, fitness plan or anything you spend your money on.

Everyone loves sports and kids are a natural subject for photography at all levels. A child’s baseball game is full of the things that photographers seek in order to make great images – excitement, suspense, action and fun!

The professional photographer has a lot of advantages over the average amateur, especially when it comes to equipment. Most youth sports photographers who make their living from shooting sports use expensive, top-of-the-line DSLR cameras and professional lenses. The best photographers are experienced with their equipment and have vast knowledge of the sport and its players.

Don’t be afraid, with a little practice, you can capture images that can compare with the pros. If you wish to get serious about youth sports photography, the most important piece of equipment is a digital SLR camera and a nice lens. For action photography, you want a medium telephoto lens or a fast, quality zoom lens that ranges from around 70 mm to 200 mm or more. These lenses will bring you close enough to the action to take great pictures, especially at smaller, youth sports events where you can position yourself close to the play.

KNOW YOUR SUBJECT

The youth sports photographer who understands the game and knows the kids will learn how to be positioned for good photo opportunities. Learning ideal camera angles will help with composition and lighting that works to your advantage.

INDOOR SPORTS

Unfortunately not all sporting events are outside with overcast skies with just the right light for action photography. When shooting sports that occur in arenas, gymnasiums and aquatic centers; additional challenges are placed on the youth sports photographer. Lighting is going to be dimmer and is a whole lot different than sunlight. Shutter speeds still need to remain fast to stop action, which requires higher ISO setting in your digital camera or larger apertures, which means sacrificing depth of field. Typically a shallow depth of field is a good thing when shooting an individual player in order to blur the background. This separates the player from a busy background. A flash may be a solution, although the distance from your flash to the action is often too far to really make a difference. If you review the manual for your flash, you will probably be able to find its effective distance.

25 Tips for Getting 10 Minutes of Fitness Exercise-PT#1

For you to loose weight fast and achieve desired fitness, it is usually recommended to have at least 45 minutes of work out a day and 30 minutes for beginners. But the fact is that most people – men and women do not always have that luxury of time to spear doing exercises or work in a day.

 

Well, the good news is that you can still achieve the equivalent in some innovative ways. The secret is just to keep on moving. Find out what works for you and stick to it, moving on. It is always wise not to use your car all of the times. Park somewhere half a mile do the rest walking.. You might also want to ignore the elevator and choose the staircase instead. I tell you, those little bits add up very fast.

 

Do even think that those simple activities do not count, because they do to a large extent. Research shows that people who divide their exercises into little splits have the tendency to work out on a consistent basis and they consequently loose more weight in as little as three months than those who devote a bunch of 30-40 minutes to exercises.

 

A psychologist conducted a research, asking women to carry out 15 to 10 minutes work out routines a week.

And it was discovered that after 21 days, the volunteers’ aerobic fitness can be likened to that of people 10 – 15 years younger. They acquire more strength, flexibility and muscular endurance, comparable to people 15 years younger than they are.

 

Another research helps to find out that breaking down exercises into short bursts goes a long way in helping to improve the fitness and health of so many inactive adults. So many people carry about this attitude of all or nothing.

Saying its either they find 30 minutes for workouts or they do nothing.

 

It has also been found that a good way to shoot up ones confidence is breaking workouts into small chunks. An expert noted that skipping your regular exercises can be demoralizing and demotivating. So many people feel depressed and want to give up we they realize they skip to many of their routines. But the little chunks of exercises keep us going and continually motivated.

 

It is however important to keep in mind that the short bursts of work outs are only meant to supplement and not as an alternative to your regular work out routines. So in this series you will have a run down of practical ways to squeeze work outs into your daily activities even if you do not have the luxury of time to exercise to achieve fitness.
